Jamie Vardy scored his 97th Premier League goal at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday but it was only two years ago, almost to the day that he reached the landmark of 50 – highlighting his level of consistency in recent seasons, as the club revealed on Twitter.
Despite being 32-years-old, Vardy has shown no signs of losing any sharpness or pace, two of the attributes that make him one of the most devastating strikers in the league. He currently leads the goalscoring charts and by quite some distance – 6 to be exact.
Will Vardy win the Premier League golden boot this season?
Yes
No
The former England international is currently averaging a goal every 95 minutes in the league and so it’s no wonder he’s being hailed by some as Leicester City’s greatest ever player.
In response to the footage of his 50th goal, posted by the club’s Twitter account, these supporters have taken the opportunity to heap more praise on the former Fleetwood forward.
Underated player, started late in career but tough enough to make him the PL Champion and served in the 3 Lions team, #respect

What do we think?
Vardy’s name is already engraved deep in the history of this great football club. He continues to spearhead Brendan Rodgers’ forward line to devastating affect and will likely be nailed on as a favourite to win the Golden Boot award at the end of the season – something he is yet to achieve in the Premier League.
Some called him a ‘one season wonder’ after the incredible 2015/16 season but Vardy continues to silence his doubters with his humble beginnings as a footballer being the centre of his motivation.
