Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to respond to the latest update surrounding Virgil van Dijk’s fitness.
This comes after Liverpool journalist James Pearce shared a post on his official Twitter page revealing that the Dutchman is “expected to start” in Saturday’s FIFA Club World Cup final against Flamengo.

Should Virgil van Dijk be rested against Flamengo?
Yes, rest him
No, play him

The talisman centre-half missed Liverpool’s semi-final win over Monterrey on Tuesday through illness. Since then, there has been much speculation on Van Dijk’s fitness and availability for the final on Saturday.
But now with Pearce’s latest update revealing Van Dijk is fit and ready to play, this has made some Liverpool fans go crazy with excitement on Twitter.
Great news for #LFC. I think @GWijnaldum may unlikely feature in the final tomorrow to provide him with ample time to rest his muscles for the continuation of Premier league games especially against #LeceisterCity

What do we think?
Having Van Dijk fit and available to play at the weekend is undoubtedly a huge boost for Jurgen Klopp’s side as he’s been crucial up until this point, with the fourth highest rating (7.39) in the Liverpool squad so far this season, as well as a mammoth 5.2 clearances per game. But whether or not he will start against Flamengo or be rested until Liverpool return to Premier League action when they come back from Qatar is yet to be seen.
