Some Celtic fans are delighted that Championship outfit Stoke City are interested in signing their striker Lewis Morgan in the upcoming January transfer window.

A former Sunderland player, Morgan is wanted to Stoke in the winter window. The club’s boss Michael O’Neil is keen to add more creativity to his side in the second half of their Championship campaign, as per the Daily Record.

The report also claims that Stoke did enquire about the Scotsman, but the Hoops pegged the offer back as they aren’t keen on loaning him out in January.

Celtic fans: Should Morgan leave in January?

Some Celtic fans are delighted about Stoke’s interest in Morgan and would very happy to see the forward leave as soon as possible.

During Odsonne Edouard’s recent injury issues, it was Morgan who got a run of games in the Premiership and even in the Europa League. He started the league game against Ross County and did the same against Hamilton as well.

In all competitions this season, Morgan has played 18 times in all competitions for the Hoops. He has scored twice and has also racked up three assists. He also scored in the club’s recent Europa League game against Rennes.

He had joined the club from St. Mirren in the winter of 2018 for a fee of around £300,000. Last season, he was on loan at League One side Sunderland in the second half of the season. He had 21 appearances in all competitions at the Black Cats, scoring twice and assisting four times.

What do we think?

Morgan has been playing some regular football this season in Edouard’s absence. But it has also come when Leigh Griffiths is slowly getting back to full fitness for the club. Once he comes back, Morgan will likely fall further down the pecking order. A move away from Parkhead will make sense for him.
