Leeds United are reportedly eyeing up a move for Liverpool’s Rhian Brewster in the upcoming January transfer window.

According to Mike McGrath in The Telegraph, Leeds are supposedly interested in bringing the striker to Elland Road next month to bolster their attack.

But it was also reported that Marco Bielsa’s side are not the only club interested in taking the Liverpool man on loan next month. Sheffield Wednesday, Preston, Swansea and Huddersfield are all said to be weighing up a move for the 19-year-old.

The English teenager, who is valued at £3.6 million (as per Transfermarkt), has made 11 appearances for the club so far this season in three different competitions. Brewster has made seven appearances for the Liverpool U23’s side, scoring four goals and making one assist. Two appearances in the UEFA Youth League scoring one goal and finally two appearances for the senior squad in the Carabao Cup (per TransferMarkt). He’s made a name for himself in the youth ranks on the international stage already, winning the golden boot during the England Under-17s’ World-Cup winning competition in 2017.

After making numerous appearances at both senior and lower level for Liverpool this season, it comes as no surprise that so many Championship teams have been interested in securing the teenager’s signature for January.

TIF Tactics

If Leeds do manage to secure Brewster on a loan deal for the remainder of the season, he would have to work hard to take the place of club top scorer Patrick Bamford in the starting XI. With seven goals so far this season in the Championship, Bamford has been a shining light for Bielsa’s team. But if Bielsa wants to do everything he can to make sure Leeds get promoted to the Premier League for next season, maybe adding an extra attacking player to the squad could help push Leeds to their ultimate victory. But Brewster and Liverpool will want assurances that wherever he goes, he will get sufficient playing minutes to bump up his experience.
