West Bromwich Albion could be welcomed by a familiar face when they take on Stoke City next Monday, with former Baggies boss Tony Pulis the favourite to take over following Nathan Jones’ dismissal on Friday.
The Welshman spent almost three years as Albion manager before being sacked back in November 2017, following a poor run of results in the Premier League which saw the club eventually relegated.
Now it appears he could be set for a third spell in charge at Stoke, although whether he is in place by Monday’s crunch match against the Baggies is unlikely.
West Brom fans have reacted to the news on Twitter, sharing their thoughts on the 61-year-old’s potential appointment.
Nathan Jones sacked Tony Pulis appointed and beats us 1-0 typical to happen to the Albion?? #wba

Doesn’t look like Nathan Jones will be gone too long before he’s replaced at Stoke then. Tony Pulis has defended his style of play by saying ‘It ain’t what you do, it’s the way that you do it. That’s what gets results’. Paulo Di Canio also in the frame. Talking Italian. https://t.co/UFEkKGoY94

Hopefully we can play stoke before they appoint TP. So we can avoid a 1-0 loss. #wba

If we end up lining up against Pulis then I despair. Even if he’ll basically have no time to actually train them, he’ll still somehow sneak a result.

God help em if they re-appoint Pulis…?

What do we think?
Pulis may not be the most flattering name when mentioned for a vacant managerial role, but the Welshman has a proven track record of grinding out results – which is especially what Stoke need after a torrid start to the Championship season. West Brom fans will be hoping that if appointed, he won’t be in the dugout until after Monday’s clash with the Baggies, to avoid upsetting the club that dismissed him two years ago.
