Barry Ferguson has been in the spotlight over the last couple of days after making claims about his nephew Lewis Ferguson being linked with a move to Rangers (The Scottish Sun). The midfielder made 411 league appearances in his career, 195 of which were for Rangers in the Scottish Premiership. And of his 29 career league goals, 22 were scored for the Gers (transfermarkt.co.uk).

With the midfielder on everyone’s mind, Rangers fans reminisced about how good the player actually was. While they admit that he is a rubbish pundit, they can’t deny his talents. One fan calls him the last world-class player to come out of Scotland. Another remembers a game where Ferguson handled Lothar Matthaus magnificently. It wasn’t the only game where the Scotsman handled a top midfielder brilliantly, according to another fan.

And while there may have been some slander towards Ferguson from some fans, there were plenty willing to stand in his corner and back him.

What do we think?

While there may be controversy surrounding Ferguson, there are plenty of Rangers fans willing to back him. If his cousin Lewis comes to Rangers and can achieve just half of what his uncle did, then Rangers supporters will be in for a successful few years.
