Some Manchester United fans feel that the club isn’t doing the right thing by willing to let young Tahith Chong leave for Serie A giants Juventus.

Chong, 19, has played twice in the Premier League for United, but both those appearances from the bench. But the winger has made one start in the UEFA Europa League, doing the same in their League Cup game against League One side Rochdale.

Reports claimed that Chong has refused to renew to his contract at Old Trafford and Juventus are said to be closely monitoring the player currently.

This has left many United fans angry and they have slammed the club for their inability to keep the player.

Chong’s first-team debut for United came last season and the Dutchman also made two appearances from the bench in the Premier League under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer – as he has in this campaign.

For the Under-23s in the Premier League 2 last season, Chong had impressed a lot. He played 17 times in the competition and managed to score as many as six times and racked up a tally of one assist too.

He recently impressed for the Under-23s. He grabbed a brace for the side in a 4-1 win over the Middlesbrough Under-23s in the Premier League 2. But Chong’s last first-team appearance came in the club’s 1-0 defeat away to Newcastle United.

United have seen the likes of Angel Gomes, James Garner, Mason Greenwood and Brandon Williams all get some first-team football this season.

What do we think?

It will be unfair to judge Chong, considering he has got only 226 total minutes of first-team football. His numbers in the Premier League 2 suggests that there is still a player in there who can play senior football. United would, perhaps, have a better knowledge of his true quality if they loan the player out in January and assess him when he comes back.
