This week, Rangers fans were made aware of a mistake made by the HMRC regarding taxes owed by Rangers Football Club. According to reports, the HMRC overstated the taxes owed by around £50 million (The Times).

At the time of writing, Rangers have yet to make an official statement on this news, however, the club’s Twitter account has still been producing tweets. One tweet, in particular, shared the date and time of the 2020 Rangers Burns Supper, to be held on January 24.

The supporters we’re not willing to let themselves be distracted from the bigger story still weighing in their mind though. Many of the fans are still unsure about what the mistake made actually means for the club. One fan questions if the club has looked into the incident while others demanded a statement.

Another fan implores fellow supporters to exercise patience when waiting for a statement, claiming that the club would be wise to gather all the facts before making an announcement. He ensures other supporters that there will be a message eventually, they just have to wait.

What do we think?

While it may be true the club is simply waiting for the right time to make an official statement, it doesn’t make the radio silence on the subject any less tense for fans. They naturally want answers, and they want them soon.
