After beating Wrexham in the cup earlier in the week, Rangers Colts found out their opponents for the next round of the Tunnock’s Caramel Wafer Cup. The young Rangers team will travel to Inverness for the semi-final (BBC).

Inverness is understood to be the toughest opponent left and the competition. The team currently sit fourth in the Scottish Championship, having scored 19 goals in 13 games (Sky Sports). The other draw included Partick Thistle, who are currently last in the Scottish Championship, and Raith Rovers who are second in the Scottish League One (Sky Sports). Rangers fans were quick to acknowledge the difficulty of this fixture.

However, while many Rangers fans acknowledged the difficulty of the matchup, they also welcomed the competition. They want to beat the best teams in the competition and are excited for the match. While one fan is preparing his travelling arrangements to the semi-finals, one fan is looking forward to the final, where he hopes to draw Raith.

What do we think?

This will be a tough game for the young Rangers team. However, Graeme Murty’s side will relish the opportunity to play tough opposition. If they can win this match it will give Steven Gerrard yet another reason to give youth players an opportunity to play with the first-team.
