Liverpool fans on Twitter have expressed their feelings that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain should start against Manchester City on Sunday.

This comes after the official Liverpool Twitter account shared a post which included a quote from the midfielder on his midweek performance against KRC Genk in the Champions League.

This tweet then gathered a lot of replies from Liverpool fans that are eager to see Oxlade-Chamberlain play in Liverpool’s Sunday showdown with Premier League champions Manchester City.

Here’s a sample of Liverpool fans pleading for Oxlade-Chamberlain to start on Sunday:

The 26-year-old has made 13 appearances for the Merseyside club so far this season, but he has yet to complete a full 90 minutes in any game he has played in (per Transfermarkt). In Liverpool’s current Champions League campaign, Oxlade-Chamberlain has made two out of four appearances, and in those two appearances, he has scored three goals (per Transfermarkt). His latest goal came in yesterday’s 2-1 win over Genk.

This recent run of goal-scoring success has left some Liverpool fans wanting the midfielder to continue his form over in the Premier League this weekend against City.

What do we think?
It’s good to see Oxlade-Chamberlain steadily returning to good form. The Englishman signed for the Merseyside club in August 2017 from Arsenal for £35 million. But in his first season at Anfield, he suffered a cruciate ligament rupture, which kept him sidelined for 293 days, resulting in the longest injury of his career (per Transfermarkt).

But since his return from that injury in February this year, Oxlade-Chamberlain has only missed 11 games through minor injuries. In Liverpool’s last League win against City at Anfield in the 4-3 victory back in January 2018, it was the midfielder who opened the scoring for the Reds in the opening 10 minutes.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will have a tough choice to make when it comes to his midfield options on Sunday.
