These Liverpool fans have expressed their joy with the news that Liverpool U23 coach Neil Critchley will take charge of the first team’s Carabao Cup quarter-final against Aston Villa in December.

Liverpool news Twitter account @LFCTransferRoom shared the news (via Daily Mail) of the likely managerial switch on their page. This then led to a number of Liverpool fans replying to the tweet with their positive opinions on Critchley’s upcoming temporary change of role.

Here’s a sample of Liverpool fans reacting to the news:

Liverpool’s quarter-final clash against Villa at Villa Park has been the centre of much debate after the fixture date was unchanged,  meaning the Reds will face the Villans one day before Jurgen Klopp’s side are due to fly over to Qatar to play in the Club World Cup semi-final.

What do we think?
Playing two important cup games in a short space of time in two different continents in the middle of an already packed festive fixture schedule is not exactly the most ideal position for a club desperate to win their first-ever Premier League title to find themselves in.

The news of Critchley taking charge of the Carabao Cup clash seems to have gone down well and he works with the youngsters on a regular basis, so perhaps the Reds will field a younger side in the Carabao Cup.
