Some Celtic fans are hailing club manager Neil Lennon, following the club’s sensational 2-1 win over Lazio in the UEFA Europa League.

Simone Inzaghi’s Lazio did go one-nil up, but Neil Lennon’s men came back from 1-0 down to win the game in stoppage time. Valon Berisha gave the ball away late in the game and Olivier Ntcham sealed the deal to put the ball past Thomas Strakosha (BBC).

This was the club’s second consecutive win over the Biancocelesti, who had lost to the Scottish side by the same scoreline in Glasgow.

Some fans are continuing to hail Lennon, who they feel is better than Brendan Rodgers.

This is Lennon’s second spell at Celtic, as the first one ended in the summer of 2014. He returned to the club in February initially on a deal until the end of last year’s campaign, when Rodgers had joined Premier League side Leicester City.

During his first spell at the manager of the Glaswegian side, Lennon won as many as three league titles for the club. He also won two Scottish Cup titles. When he joined last season, Lennon won the league titles once again (TransferMarkt).

The fans continued to laud Lennon for yesterday’s show.

Rodgers, on the other hand, is doing wonders at Leicester. The Foxes are high as third in the Premier League, only eight points behind leaders Liverpool.

What do we think?

It is unfair to say that Rodgers is a bad manager than Lennon just because the latter took Celtic to glory in Rome. It is just that Celtic have a special connection with Lennon because of numerous reasons that have been formed from his previous spell in charge. What Rodgers is doing at Leicester is unique.
