The 28-year-old has been out with a calf injury since September, which has resulted in Shaqiri missing eight games for the Merseyside club. But with this latest post from Liverpool, it seems as though there is a light at the end of the tunnel for the winger who could soon return to match fitness. While there has been no official date set for his return, Shaqiri’s involvement in training has certainly gone down well with some Liverpool fans.
What do we think?
It’s good to see Shaqiri make his way back to fitness after overcoming his calf injury. But if the winger is looking for a place in Jurgen Klopp’s starting XI, he will have a tough time trying to get in ahead of Mohamed Salah or Sadio Mane. Both Mane and Salah have had strong starts to the season with the pair being the two top-scorers so far (Premier League). Although, the Egyptian is a major doubt for the Crystal Palace clash, so he could get lucky.
The one thing Shaqiri needs to prove is his match fitness, as the talent is all there.
