Leeds United’s fans were blown away by the 19-year-old’s ‘rocket’ of a strike during his Northern Ireland U21’s match.
Alfie McCalmont’s strike meant his side rescued a draw against Hungary U21’s with just 10 minutes left to play. The 19-year-old has played twice for Leeds United in the EFL Cup, however, he is yet to score for the first team.
The midfielder’s contract will expire in 2021, but Leeds do have a one-year extension option should they decided to use it.

The fans are clearly happy to see one of the academy players showing his talent, with fellow youngster Leif Davis now getting more and more game time in the first team, these academy players will believe they can do the same.

What Do We Think?
Hopefully, this international goal will give him the confidence needed to do the same for his club, as trying to break into the first team from the academy is one of the hardest tasks in football. However, it’s standout moments like this that can really put a young player on the radar, so hopefully for McCalmont, the right people were watching and took notice, if they didn’t already recognise his ability.
