Some Celtic fans believe that outcast Lewis Morgan did well to prove some of his critics wrong in the club’s 3-1 win over Rennes in the Europa League last night.
The club sealed qualification into the knockout round of the competition by finishing top of the Europa League group for the first time in its history. The game saw Lewis Morgan start upfront and grab his first goal of the season.
Ryan Christie got one of his own, while young Michael Johnston got the third goal as well. Adrien Hunou got a consolation for the visitors from France in the last few minutes of the game (BBC).
Some Celtic fans are appreciating Morgan for his performance and feel that this is the right step forward for him.

Morgan, 24, has now made 14 appearances in all competitions for the Hoops. He had previously scored once in the Europa League qualifying rounds, but this is his first in the main rounds of the competition.
He has also played three times in the Premiership this season, but last night was his first appearance in the group stages of the Europa League.
Morgan, who is valued at £675k (Transfermarkt), had arrived at Parkhead from St. Mirren in the winter of 2018 for a fee of around £300,000 and had loaned him back to his former club for the remainder of the 2017-18 campaign.
Last season, he spent a loan stint at League One side Sunderland. During his time at Wearside, he played 22 times in all competitions and scoring twice, racking up assists as well. This loan spell had come at the end of January 2019, but Morgan had played 13 times in all competitions for the Hoops before going to the Black Cats.
What do we think?
In the absence of Odsonne Edouard and Leigh Griffiths, Morgan showed that he can still sometimes get a goal or two. It shows that instead of having two options upfront, Neil Lennon might just have a total of three options in that position.
Since Edouard is expected to be missing for Celtic’s next game at Ross County, Morgan could well get a full start in the league.
