Some Aston Villa fans have been slating striker Wesley after he failed to score in Monday’s 2-0 win over Newcastle.
This comes after Villa fan Twitter account @villareport shared a post on their page containing a video clip of a chance Wesley had in the match that was saved by Newcastle goalkeeper Martin Dubravka.
This post then gathered many replies from Villa fans who were unconvinced by him after his glaring miss.
The 23-year-old has scored four goals in 13 Premier League appearances for Villa so far this season (per TransferMarkt). He put in a solid performance against Newcastle United, achieving a 7 (WhoScored), but that wasn’t enough to distract fans from his disappointing miss.
Should Wesley be Villa's first-choice striker?

Need a new striker desperately. Sad from day 1 he ain’t no good. It’s costing us massive not having a decent scoring centre forward. Even his effort is appalling most the time. 22 million carthorse is what we’ve bought

@UtdJaack He genuinely needs dropping. I’d love to see kodjia start with Davis on the bench to show he’s not got a guaranteed place. He needs to work more in training to learn the English football then start him because he’s played shocking all season and is costing us.

Too many chances , get him benched

Was it me or was Westley poor again tonight?With an on form striker Villa would have scored four or five. Mings gave me some concerns too but he got away with his mistakes.

@mastermoraess this is very questionable.

What do we think?
Of course, it’s easy to understand why Villa fans are slating Wesley when he’s missing chances like that.
This is the Brazilian’s first season in England, so it would be unfair of the Villa fans to expect him to hit the ground running on his debut Premier League season, but chances like that still shouldn’t go a miss.
