Some Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to share their concerns over John McGinn’s performance in their 2-0 victory over Newcastle.
This comes after Villa fan Twitter account @TheVillaVision shared a post on their page criticising the midfielder’s performance in Monday’s win.
This post then gathered some replies from other Villa fans that were also surprised by McGinn’s lacklustre display against Newcastle.
Here’s a sample of Villa fans sharing their opinions on McGinn:
Probably knackered from playing international game

I’m going to put the spanner in the works here and say that Mcginn looks shattered and needs a rest

The Scottish international has made 15 appearances for Villa in all competitions so far this season, resulting in the 25-year-old playing 1245 minutes for the club (per Transfermarkt).
After his latest performance for the club, some Villa fans noticed a drop in quality from McGinn and were quick to suggest a rest would benefit the midfielder.
Should John McGinn be rested for Villa's next game?
Yes
No
Knackered from Internationals I reckon

#AVFC McGinn was poor for Villa tonight almost appeared disinterested in the game.

Overall very happy with tonight’s game, lots of good play tried some new things, Poor Wesley can’t buy a goal, rare bad game for McGinn but the rest of the lads pulled together nicely, Grealish had so much fun, can’t mess around in the back against United though

What do we think?
If Villa want to make sure McGinn is at full fitness, maybe a rest in their next match would be a good idea. Unless his performance against Newcastle was just a one-off and his fitness is not an issue.
It will be interesting to see what Dean Smith does about this potential issue and how McGinn performs in his next appearance, as the Midlands club really need him to be back to his best.
