Some Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to share their intentions of giving former Villa manager Steve Bruce a warm welcome in their upcoming match against current club Newcastle United.
This comes after Villa news Twitter account @AVFC_News shared a post on their official page asking their followers how they will react to Bruce’s return to Villa Park on Monday. The tweet also contained an article from Birmingham Mail that had a poll in it on what reception he should get.
This post then gathered a number of replies from Villa fans who said they will give Bruce a welcome reaction on Monday.
Here’s a sample of Villa fans that say they will give the Newcastle manager a warm welcome:
Should beg him to come back. Did wonders for us.

I will be clapping him. Villa was a toxic place and he got the feel good factor back. There was a disconnect between the fans and players, he brought in big characters like of Terry, Snodgrass, etc who the fans loved. We wouldn’t be back in the PL without him imo

Clap him, he took us to the brink of promotion. I don’t think Grealish would be as good if Bruce didn’t put his arm around him and get his head onto the game. He was a good manager that got replaced by an even better one

Clap him. He helped save a sinking ship & turn toxic atmosphere to positive. Also worked whilst going through terrible personal times. Didn’t work out for him & we’ve all moved on thankfully #AVFC

The 58-year-old spent two years in charge at Villa Park from October 2016 to October 2018 before current manager Dean Smith took over to take Villa back to the Premier League. Bruce managed in 102 matches for Villa earning a points per game average of 1.6, the third-highest of any club he has managed (per Transfermarkt).
Clap him, lets show some class. It didn’t work out but he didn’t do it on purpose, bringing in JT alone is worth around of applause

Clap. Yes he didn’t get us to where we aimed for, but he was very close!
We should always be a bigger club and appreciate everyone that plays for us or manages us. Regardless how they perform.

Clap him he did his best for us stabilised the club in bad times

What do we think?
It’s nice to see the Villa fans show respect for Bruce and respect his time at the club.
Despite the show of class from the Villa faithful, the upcoming clash with Bruce’s Newcastle side is a must-win for the Birmingham club. Villa currently sit in 17th place in the Premier League table, hovering over the relegation zone after losing their three previous league matches (per BBC Sport).
