It has been a great week for Jamie Barjonas as the 20-year-old Englishman signs a new contract with Rangers, keeping him at the club until 2021 (Rangers.co.uk). The player has been brought up through the team’s academy and is looking closer and closer to earning more regular first-team minutes (transfermarkt.co.uk).
And while the signing likely meant a great deal to the player himself, some fans took to Twitter to express their delight at the news as well. They were quick to congratulate the player, while one fan claimed the Englishman was one of the brightest young British talents out there.
Yes @jbarjonas_ great news.

Other fans, while delighted at the news, urged the club and manager to get the player game time with the first-team. They insist that youth need to be brought through the ranks.
Always see him in the first team training videos, must be close to getting game time

What do we think?
It’s unknown when Steven Gerrard plans to play the midfielder, but the new contract is surely a sign of the manager’s faith in him. The youngster has made just nine appearances for the Light Blues so far (per transfermarkt.co.uk), although he could be in a position to add to that tally at some point in the current campaign.
