Some Spurs fans were far from happy with the latest update from Daily Hotspur, which states that boss Mauricio Pochettino is ready to put his faith in youngsters to help turn the team’s form around.

Spurs are 11th in the Premier League after the first 10 games and the Argentinian coach feels as if it’s time to give some of the promising youngsters at the club a chance, but it seems as if the majority of fans are in disagreement. The 47-year-old is reportedly (as per David Ornstein) ready to put his faith in Troy Parrott, Japhet Tanganga and Oliver Skipp, opposed to new January signings.

All three players featured in Spurs’ pre-season tour in Asia but all three have only made one appearance so far this season, in Spurs’ Carabao Cup defeat by Colchester. Troy Parrott grabbed the headlines when he scored four goals in the youth team’s 9-2 victory over Red Star earlier this month but is yet to make his Premier League debut. Skipp has featured twice in the Premier League but came on as a very late substitute on both occasions.

With Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld both out of contract at the end of the season, it is perhaps no surprise to see 20-year-old Tanganga starting to push for a place in the first team.

Although, Spurs fans have generally not reacted well to the news that these three youngsters may be in line for a more prominent first-team role.

Reaction from Spurs fans to the news of these three players featuring more can be seen in the tweets below.

These tweets clearly show that the majority of Spurs fans feel these youngsters aren’t ready to make their mark in the Premier League just yet and that Pochettino may have to use the January transfer window as a way of solving the club’s current problems.

What do we think?

It is never a bad thing to have exciting youngsters coming through at a club, but it feels as if this is the wrong time for these players to start playing regularly in the Premier League. With Spurs in such poor form, it may be best to save these youngsters for a time when they feel as if they are not so heavily relied upon. Perhaps Troy Parrott could be used as a substitute for Harry Kane when they are in comfortable winning positions, but Tanganga (centre-back) and Skipp (centre-midfield) should perhaps be saved for less pressurised situations, such as the FA Cup.
