Charlton Athletic striker Macauley Bonne has been in fine form of late. Five goals in eight league games so far has seen the former Leyton Orient star win the hearts of the club’s adoring fans quicker than most could have predicted.  With Lyle Taylor out injured, the 24-year-old striker has been under increased pressure to deliver goals for Lee Bowyer’s side and quickly.

The forward has taken to social media to praise the fans’ support ahead of Sunday’s clash with Preston North End at the Valley prompting some of the clubs supporters to express their excitement at seeing Bonne pull on the famous red-shirt once again.

What do we think?

Bonne’s performances have made him an instant hit in South-East London and it appears his social media presence is strengthening the bond between player and supporters.

Charlton face a difficult game on Sunday with second place Preston North End coming to town but Bonne will be confident of netting his sixth goal of the season. There were those who wrote Charlton and Bonne off at the Hawthorns last week but they snatched a very impressive point. In front of their own supporters and live on the television, the Addicks will be feeling quietly confident ahead of this one.
