Leeds United are set to receive a cut price offer from Europa League semi finalists Valencia for attacking midfielder Samu Saiz this summer, according to Football Insider.

The reputable football news outlet claim that the big name Spanish club, who were beaten by Arsenal as one of the last four sides left in the Europa League, are looking to start the bidding at around £3million, half of the £6million valuation that Leeds are said to have placed on his head.

The 28-year-old left Elland Road on a temporary deal with La Liga side Getafe and it is said that they have a loan-to-buy deal in place, although there is no obligation to make his terms permanent this summer.

Opinion

Saiz left Leeds United under a very dark cloud before the January transfer window and you can imagine there would not be too many fans disappointed if he did secure a permanent departure this summer. He is a creative talent who can make a huge difference on his day but obviously Elland Road is not the place for him. Perhaps it was Marcelo Bielsa’s methods, the Argentine working his squad harder than ever before, which triggered his desire to go. Whatever might have happened behind the scenes, he has not shown much promise at Getafe either and it seems as though clubs think they might be able to poach him away from Leeds at a cut price. It is a shame things have not worked out for he was a real fans’ favourite when he was performing at his best. However talented he might have been, the Elland Road faithful want hard work and dedication more than anything else and he definitely did not show that.
