Kemar Roofe has been ruled out of the Championship clash between Leeds and Aston Villa on Sunday.

The news was confirmed by manager Marcelo Bielsa in the pre-match press conference on Friday lunchtime.

He was quoted by Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Phil Hay on his personal Twitter page.

He went on to say that it was a hip problem and shouldn’t be too serious.

OPINION

Well this is a blow. Kemar Roofe hadn’t been starting for Leeds since his return from ligament damage but with Patrick Bamford’s form in question, there was a thinking that he would be back in the starting line-up for the Villa clash. Losing him through injury will seriously weaken Leeds and there will be a fear now from fans that he could be missing for the rest of the season. Bielsa said that the injury isn’t serious but fans will remember that he said the same thing about Adam Forshaw before the midfielder went missing for eight games. It’s another blow and another injury onto a list for Leeds this season that has been way above the norm. Ezgjan Alioski is out injured too and that means two enforced changes for Bielsa. We imagine Stuart Dallas or Gaetano Berardi will fill in at left-back, while Patrick Bamford seems nailed on now to continue up top. There will be even more pressure on him to provide the goals now.
