Phil Thompson predicted Leeds United to defeat Reading 3-1 when the two Championship sides clash on Tuesday.
The Sky Sports pundit revealed what he thought the score would be between Leeds’ and Reading in his predictions for Sky Sports’ Super 6 and added that he thought every game was now important for Marcelo Bielsa’s side.
“Every match is important for Leeds United now, they’ll win this one too,” wrote Thompson in his predictions.
When the two side’s met earlier in the season at Elland Road, Leeds achieved a narrow 1-0 win over Reading.
OPINION
Given that Reading sit 19th in the Championship with 34 points less than second-placed Leeds, surely the Whites should emerge victorious. However in the Championship you can never be sure as the league regularly produces surprising results and Bielsa’s team must be at their best to ensure they get all three points. Leeds’ form seems to have rebounded after their shocking lost to QPR and hopefully they can make it three wins in a row. Thompson is spot-on to claim every game from here on out is important for the Whites as they could get automatic promotion and avoid the play-offs which are a glorified lottery. Leeds are currently two-points ahead of third-place Sheffield United and know that Chris Wilder’s team could drop points against Brentford, given that the Bees are capable of causing them problems. This makes victory against Reading even more important as if Leeds could establish a bigger gap between them and the Blades, they could breath just a little bit easier in the coming weeks.
