Rival Championship clubs are fuming with the Leeds United hierarchy for failing to “apologise” or explain their actions” amid the spy storm of the last month, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper claim the 11 second-tier outfits who signed the letter complaining about United spying on their training sessions are not seeking a punishment for Marcelo Bielsa and his club.

The Mail report rivals just “want to know every detail” that Leeds “has on them” and there is “disgruntlement” at the failure of the top brass at Elland Road to ring round and apologise.

OPINION

‘Sorry’ seems to be the hardest word for Leeds. Sure, an investigation is ongoing, and there is said to be real frustration at the club that the spy cloud continues to hover over them, but the failure to demonstrate common courtesy towards rival clubs after unsporting conduct, does not show them in a good light. Bristol City’s owner did urge the Football League to dock points from Leeds, but that is an isolated example of a rival club going over the top. Others have been rather sanguine in their response, with automatic promotions rivals like Middlesbrough’s Tony Pulis, Sheffield United’s Chris Wilder and Norwich City’s Daniel Farke completely unperturbed by the fuss. Nevertheless, it would not have taken much for someone like managing director Angus Kinnear to get on the phone and ring round the other 23 clubs in the league to apologise. No wonder half the Championship has got the hump over the lack of manners.
