Ian Holloway heaped praise on Leeds attacker Kemar Roofe when naming who he thought had been the five best players in the Championship this season.

The former Queens Park Rangers boss named the 26-year-old forward in his list and highlighted that he did have a difficult role to play for Leeds this season as it’s not easy to excel in the middle of the front three.

Holloway while heaping praise on Roofe also shared that he believed the Leeds players was only going to get better.

“I’m going for Leeds, I like Clarke he has been playing on the wing but I am going for Kemar Roofe he came from Oxford,” said Holloway on talkSPORT (Friday February 15th 17:23).

“He’s got 14 plus two assists so I think he has been sensational for them, playing up in the middle in a front three isn’t easy and I think he is only going to get better.”

OPINION

Roofe didn’t top Holloway’s list, if he was indeed doing them in order, but it’s clear to see the experienced manager rates the 26-year-old. He is also spot-on to highlight that the 26-year-old has been sensational for the Whites this season as without his attacking talent, who knows if Leeds would be in the race for automatic promotion in the way that they are. Roofe has definitely improved from his 2017/18 campaign as he looks more clinical in front of goal and just like Holloway stated, it does seem likely that he is only going to continue improving. Hopefully Leeds are able to hold on to the hotshot as long as possible, as several clubs will try their luck in the summer and beyond when it comes to trying to get his services. This is because lethal finishers are worth their weight in gold and clubs will dangle big-money offers in front of Leeds in order to tempt them to part company. However if Marcelo Bielsa’s side do win promotion to the Premier League this season, it will make life easier when it comes to being able to hold onto Roofe.
