Leeds United are in negotiations to sell striker Sam Dalby on loan to Stevenage this month, according to Football Insider.

The reliable site cite a source claiming the Yorkshire giants are “very confident” a deal can be agreed for the forward, 19, to join the League Two outfit by 31 January.

Football Insider report Leeds are keen for Dalby to get first-team football under his belt after playing solely for their Under-23s since signing from Leyton Orient in January of last year.

Good move for Leeds?

It makes sense for Dalby to go out on loan and get exposure to senior football. The teenager has had a taste of it, making 16 appearances in League Two for former club Orient before moving to Elland Road. The giant forward, who stands at 6ft 3in (source: Transfermarkt), has been a regular for Leeds Under-23s, but it is a level that he already looks too good for, even if he is not quite ready to step up to Marcelo Bielsa’s first team. Powerful, aerially dominant and quick across the ground, Dalby has a real eye for goal and has demonstrated during his time at Leeds that he has the potential to make it at Championship level.

Likely to happen?

This is a deal that makes total sense. Football Insider have an excellent track record of breaking Leeds stories, and were first on to Kiko Casilla as well as the approaches being made for Jack Clarke. If negotiations proceed smoothly, this is a deal that could soon be announced.
