OPINION

What a time it is to be a young player at Leeds. The club’s youth teams are flying high and bursting with exciting young talent, and there is a clear pathway between the academy and the first team. Marcelo Bielsa has demonstrated huge and unprecedented faith in the club’s youth and has reacted to a never-ending series of serious injuries to senior players by fast-tracking the youngsters, often filling up his entire substitute’s bench with academy products. Jenkins is making a name for himself as an energetic and classy midfielder, helping Leeds Under-18s win the Professional Development League North title last season and continuing his impressive progress in the current campaign. Jenkins will have noted how Jack Clarke, Leif Davis and Jamie Shackleton have all been fast-tracked from the youth set-up into the senior team in recent weeks, and will be eager to take similar steps. Highly regarded and destined for big things, Jenkins is in the right place at the right time.
