Mateusz Bogusz will not get the same fanfare as Kiko Casilla when he is unveiled as the second Leeds United signing of the January window but he could make a big impact in the long term.

According to Football Insider, the Polish attacking midfielder will head to the Championship leaders on Monday to undergo a medical and complete a transfer from Polish third-tier outfit Ruch Chorzow.

It is said that Bogusz has agreed the terms of a three-year contract that will be signed at the start of next week.

When can Whites expect to see the rising star, who has been capped by Poland at all levels up to Under-19s, lighting up Elland Road?

In theory, not for some time, as Bogusz will head straight into the Leeds Under-23s set-up when he finalises his transfer from 14-times Polish title winners Ruch Chorzow.

But, given the never-ending injury list with which Marcelo Bielsa has had to contend this season, nothing should be discounted for the youngsters who most impress at Thorp Arch.

As academy products Jack Clarke, Bailey Peacock-Farrell, Jamie Shackleton, Leif Davis and company have showed this season, age is no barrier to a place in the Leeds first team.

Bogusz plays predominantly as an attacking midfielder in the ‘number 10’ role but can also play as a central midfielder and as a deep-lying midfielder.

He already has plenty of senior experience under his belt, scoring five goals from his last 19 games to demonstrate his immense promise, albeit in the Polish third tier, which is some way below Championship level.

There is a real sense that once-derided recruitment chief Victor Orta has followed up the prize capture of Casilla from Real Madrid with another masterstroke.
