Leeds United are sweating after Pablo Hernandez complained of an injury at the end of their Championship win against Rotherham on Saturday.

The Spanish playmaker was brought off at the end of stoppage time of the clash at the New York Stadium as Leeds came from behind to win 2-1 through a Mateusz Klich double.

Manager Marcelo Bielsa revealed afterwards, as quoted by Yorkshire Evening Post correspondent Phil Hay, that Hernandez came off due to an injury concern, although he did not expand on the nature of the issue.

OPINION

When Hernandez was subbed five minutes into stoppage time, the Leeds faithful assumed it was a classic time wasting device to rob the home side of any late momentum and close out the victory. The fact it could be yet another injury in a season full of them will scare the living daylights out of Whites. No United player is more vital, not Kemar Roofe, Pontus Jansson or Kalvin Phillips, to the team’s hopes of securing a top-two finish. Hernandez has been as brilliant back in a central playmaking role, as he was on the right wing for the first half of the season. His touch and inventiveness were integral against a doughty and resilient Rotherham side, as Leeds produced the second-half fightback they needed to end the day three points clear at the top of the Championship. Leeds fans will be nervously awaiting the outcome of the seriousness of the injury Hernandez was complaining of.
