Leeds United defender Pontus Jansson took a cheeky swipe at Mateusz Klich after the Whites came from behind to beat QPR 2-1 at Elland Road on Saturday.

Jansson heaped praise on Pablo Hernandez on his personal Twitter account after the win, claiming that the Spanish winger is the best player he has ever played with.

Klich thought he would respond to Jansson’s comment about Hernandez, saying: “Thanks Pontus.”

Jansson took that as a chance to aim a dig at the Poland international, who notably underperformed against QPR.

“Ah did you play today?” said the Swedish centre-back.

OPINION

No wonder Leeds fans love Jansson. Not only is he a quality defender and a superb leader, he is also a great guy with a funny sense of humour. It just shows how closely-knit Marcelo Bielsa’s squad is for them to have such public banter. Klich had an off-day against QPR and the squad obviously knew that for Jansson to aim a dig at the midfielder after the game. It was a very uncharacteristic display by Klich, who has transformed into one of the Whites’ best players under Bielsa. Last season he was nowhere near the first team despite being one of Thomas Christiansen’s first signings and was loaned out to FC Utrecht in January. He did well at Utrecht and Bielsa obviously took note of that and saw his quality in pre-season training. Hopefully Klich can bounce back with a good performance next week and he doesn’t get stuck in a rut.
