Self-destructive. Is there a better way to describe Jannik Vestergaard after his shocker of a performance in Southampton’s 1-0 defeat to Cardiff on Saturday? They say that first impressions can last forever and that is what Southampton fans will be praying for because there is no way that the Denmark international got off to a good start in the eyes of Ralph Hasenhuttl, who managed the Saints for the first time in the defeat in South Wales. Understandably, some Saints fans are calling for Hasenbuttl to “get rid” of the former Borussia Monchengladbach centre-back in the January transfer window. The defender was at fault for Cardiff’s Callum Paterson scoring the winning goal on Saturday, but it’s not like that’s his first mistake playing for the south coast club. Southampton have gone from Virgil van Dijk to Vestergaard in the space of less than a year. What an absolute joke that is. No wonder the fans are furious on Twitter.
