A section of Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to drool over Kalvin Phillips after his performance in their team’s 2-1 Championship win over Wigan Athletic on Sunday.
Goals from Pablo Hernandez and Kemar Roofe cancelled out Reece James’ free-kick opener after six minutes as Marcelo Bielsa’s side climbed back to the top of the division.
Many Leeds supporters were blown away by the display from Phillips, with comments including “class” and “unbelievable”.

COMMENTARY:
What a season Phillips is having at Leeds. The United academy product has played most of the campaign in the midfield anchorman role, but demonstrated his versatility and class by dropping back into defence as the middle of three centre-backs, alongside Pontus Jansson and Liam Cooper, in Sunday’s triumph at Wigan. Phillips was excellent, defending solidly, particularly as the home side pushed for a late equaliser, and providing a steady stream of quality distribution from the back. This was particularly evident with his raking pass out to Stuart Dallas on the right flank in the build-up to Roofe’s goal. Little wonder that Leeds supporters are so impressed by the 22-year-old, who has been transformed into a beacon of consistency since Bielsa took the managerial reins over the summer. He was once a scapegoat of the team’s mediocrity, but is now a standard-bearer of their excellence.

Real bonus Douglas is back. Been superb. As has Phillips. Missing Ayling on the right. Klich outstanding in a more advanced role. Need to turn that domination into 3 points though! #lufc
