Former Celtic player Davie Hay has drooled over attacking midfielder Tom Rogic, labelling him as a “lovely player”.

The Hoops take on Hearts in the league on Saturday after thrashing them 3-0 in the Betfred Cup semi-final on Sunday, and Hay believes that the 6ft 2in [Transfermarkt] dazzler has been at the centre of Celtic’s impressive form.

Hay also heaped praise on the 25-year-old’s individual effort in the 5-0 demolition of Dundee on Wednesday, calling it a “really special strike.”

“I really enjoyed watching the clever and quick movement which flowed throughout the team [against Dundee], with big Tom Rogic in wonderful form, and when Celtic play like that then no Scottish team can live with them,” he said in his Evening Times column.

“Rogic is a lovely player. What a goal he scored against Dundee, a really special strike for a talented lad, and after that he had the run of the park.”

OPINION

It is no surprise that Hay has heaped praise on Rogic in the way that he has – he has been in incedible form in the last few matches, most notably against Dundee in mid week with his excellent goal. Like Hay pointed out, no other team in Scotland are able to live with the tempo of Celtic when they have players like Rogic impressing week after week. He has certainly come into his own recently, and there is no doubt that he will maintain this streak in order to keep the Hoops in the title race – a race which they are firmly back in now. The league opened up not too long ago, but Celtic are now starting to prove their dominance again, and they could be on track for yet another treble under Brendan Rodgers. Many will question how long the Hoops can keep this up for, but by the looks of things, they do not seem to be slowing down any time soon.
