A section of Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to express their concern that Mateusz Klich’s omission from the Poland squad for their 1-0 defeat to Italy on Sunday night.

The central midfielder, 28, was not only left out of the starting XI for the Nations League clash but also failed to make the substitute’s bench.

Many Leeds supporters are anxious that key man Klich has joined their injury list.

COMMENTARY:

It is a measure of Klich’s remarkable transformation under Marcelo Bielsa that Leeds fans went into a blind panic at his omission from the Poland team. It’s fair to say the selection of the 28-year-old’s national team was not something that would have concerned them 12 months ago, when he couldn’t get a game at Leeds for love nor money. Klich’s career has been rejuvenated by Bielsa, who has helped him morph into a quality Championship player and get his international career back on track. He has been starting regularly for Poland this season and would have surely done so against Italy were he not serving a one-match suspension. Fear not, Leeds fans, Klich is not injured and should be able to return to his club fresher than he would otherwise have been as he looks to resume his impressive start to the campaign in Saturday’s clash against Blackburn Rovers.
