A section of Leeds United fans took to Twitter to slam Jack Harrison before he saved his team’s bacon with a late equaliser in their 1-1 draw against Millwall on Saturday.

The winger, on loan from Manchester City, was named in the starting XI for the second consecutive match as Leeds made two changes from the side that drew to Middlesbrough before the international break.

Harrison was criticised heavily by many Leeds fans during the match, as they questioned why he was on the pitch.

COMMENTARY:

Talk about having the last laugh. Harrison was getting castigated by supporters on social media before he lashed a shot inside the post with a quality finish just when Leeds needed it. United’s unbeaten record looked gone as the clock ticked down to the 90 minute-mark following an afternoon that was every bit as testing and hostile as everyone had expected. Millwall lived up to their inhospitable reputation and Leeds struggled to make much of an impression, with only Samuel Saiz offering much in the way of creativity. Harrison had, in truth, struggled and supporters were not wrong to question his contribution. But the Man City loanee showed a gift for timing as well as end product as he showed by Marcelo Bielsa had given him the nod over fellow young forwards like Ryan Edmondson and Jack Clarke, who were both named on a very youthful bench. Harrison is now up and running in a Leeds shirt and some fans will question why they were not patient with him.
