A section of Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to rave about Jack Clarke’s display for the Under-23s in their 2-2 Monday afternoon draw against Sheffield Wednesday.

Clarke was named in the starting XI by Carlos Corberan after being an unused substitute on Saturday as the senior side drew 1-1 against Millwall at the New Den.

The 17-year-old scored the second of Leeds’ goals and many supporters were impressed with what they saw.

COMMENTARY:

Clarke has been scoring goals for fun for the Under-23s and extended his prolific sequence with the equalising header as Leeds came from behind to secure a worthy draw against their Yorkshire rivals and extend their unbeaten run. Both the senior and Under-23s side have not lost this season, and the latest performance would have delighted the watching Marcelo Bielsa as he prepares the first team for Tuesday night’s Championship clash against Preston North End. Clarke played the full 90 minutes of the Yorkshire derby, which suggests he is unlikely to have more than a bench role in just over 24 hours’ time. Nonetheless, the 17-year-old’s most recent display for a side who played the final quarter with 10 men after losing Conor Shaughnessy to injury having already used all three substitutes, provided further evidence of his immense potential. He was Leeds’ most effective attacker. Again. Surely, his time will come soon for the first team.
