A section of Leeds United fans have slammed Ezgjan Alioski for his first-half performance in their team’s Championship clash against Millwall on Saturday.

The attacking midfielder was named in the starting XI for the seventh consecutive league time this season as he maintained his ever-present record in the competition.

But many supporters were disappointed with the player’s opening period showing, with one claiming he looked “frightened to death”.

COMMENTARY:

Alioski, 26, has been impressive during Leeds’ excellent start to the season, adding to his wonder goal collection with two memorable strikes during the first six matches as Marcelo Bielsa’s side roared to the Championship summit. The clash at the New Den was not one that suited the Macedonia international, who has a tendency to go missing in the more physical encounters. As expected, the south London venue was hostile and inhospitable in the early exchanges and a Leeds side featuring two changes from the team that drew against Middlesbrough 15 days ago struggled to get out of the starting blocks. Alioski’s timing was off in many senses, as he frequently strayed offside in the first half, which wound United supporters up no end. With Pablo Hernandez and Kemar Roofe out injured, Leeds looked disjointed and far from the side that have tore so many opponents to shreds in the opening weeks of the season.
