Robbie Savage has trolled Chris Sutton on Twitter after Celtic’s goalless draw against St Mirren on Friday night.

The BBC Sport and BT Sport pundit took to his personal social media account to have a dig at former Hoops striker Sutton in the aftermath of the televised clash in Paisley in which Brendan Rodgers’ side dropped two points.

Savage asked his fellow pundit “how did Celtic get on” and predicted that the outspoken ex-forward would now “only talk” about Steven Gerrard and Rangers.

OPINION

Rangers fans will certainly love Savage’s mockery of Sutton, whose opinions are as waspish as they are outspoken. The ex-Celtic player wastes no opportunity to point out the flaws and failings at Ibrox, and has recently been critical of Kyle Lafferty for boasting about title number 55 this season. To Sutton’s credit, he is not slow to share where Celtic have gone wrong when he believes they are not up to the mark. He has earned a reputation as one of football’s most opinionated observers for good reason. He also talks sense, with his football points providing insight and knowledge, which winds up his online detractors even more. Savage is only having a bit of fun, but he and Sutton have a history of verbal and social media jousts, whether on Twitter or television. Sutton gives as good as he gets – always – and will enjoy the chance to have a go back.
