A section of West Brom fans have taken to Twitter to lay into Kyle Bartley for his performance in their team’s 1-1 draw against Birmingham City on Friday night.
The summer signing from Swansea City played the full 90 minutes of the clash at St Andrews as Matt Phillips levelled after Jota had put the home side ahead.
Many Baggies followers were hugely disappointed in the display of centre-back Bartley, with comments including “liability”, “garbage” and “drop him”.
This Is Futbol has rounded up some of the best tweets below.
COMMENTARY:
To say Bartley got it in the neck from fuming West Brom fans after the derby draw is something of an understatement. The 27-year-old defender was absolutely slaughtered for a performance that the club’s followers felt was nowhere near the level needed for a club hunting promotion. The Championship big hitters were forced into making many changes this summer following relegation and that included the exits of previous defensive titans such as Jonny Evans and Gareth McAuley. Bartley was prised from Swansea in a move that was widely described as a coup. He was part of a three-man backline in his seventh consecutive league start of the campaign at St Andrews and supporters were right by pointing out that he struggled. He invited pressure with his ropey distribution from the back and the threatening Jota had the beating of him too easily. The 2016-17 titan of the Leeds defence must do better than this.
Bartley is the worst central defender I have seen up the Hawthorns playing for us. I don't see anything to his game at all.

Brunt, Bartley, Dawson, Livermore, J Rod, Gayle all been dirt

Bartley is terrible. Everyone caught on now? Moore doesn’t have a clue either. If that was a Pulis or Pardew performance our fans would be going mad #WBA

I can’t see any reason why Moore thinks Bartley is doing enough to warrant a starting place! This reeks of a potential chairman over manager decision, there’s a few liabilities out there that haven’t done enough imo and we continue like this we will struggle to make the play offs

Daws had a poor game but Bartley is the worst for me, play Daws in the middle and drop him…

Something in this team isn’t working at the moment, Bartley & Hegazi have been poor, Brunt & Livermore are too slow and can’t move the ball quick enough. Phillips has been ok but decision making & delivery at times is terrible.
Be lucky to finish mid table at this rate.

Watching Hegazi and Bartley trying to pass a football. https://t.co/KPUgsYYIrR

I thought the back 3 were awful tonight. But Hegazi looks completely out of touch at the mo. Passing was horrendous all night. I dont like Bartley either. Looks slow and pedestrian. Big Dave has some problems that need addressing quickly, if we want to push for the top 6!!

I’m not denying daws had a shocker. Bartley has been poor all season though mate. I am genuinely terrified when he’s on the ball. Just hope it’s a blip. Need a good performance Tuesday mate. Up the baggies

Bartley is a liability

Kyle Bartley was a very poor signing !!! He is a centre half who can’t defend and can’t pass

Hegazi seems to be an enigma. Bartley, I can't get away from how easy Swansea were prepared to let him go to a promotion rival.

It also needs players capable of playing that role which we clearly do not have, Bartley was awful skinned at every opportunity. Not to mention it restricts Phillips impact, sooner we get back to 4-4-2 the more games we will win
