A section of Tottenham fans took to Twitter to rave about Paris Maghoma after his performance for the club’s Under-23s in their 2-0 win against Manchester City on Friday night.

Mauricio Pochettino was in the stands to watch the young guns at Stevenage’s Lamex Stadium and Maghoma, 17, would have caught his eye with his performance from midfield.

The teenager set up the opener for Shayon Harrison and then scored the second himself to draw plenty of compliments from Spurs followers, with one comparing him to Premier League legend Yaya Toure.

COMMENTARY:

If Pochettino didn’t already know all about the potential of Maghoma, he will after watching him cut a swathe through Man City to secure the Under-23s’ first victory of the campaign after defeat to Arsenal and a draw against Liverpool. The brother of Birmingham City’s Jacques Maghoma, Paris has come on leaps and bounds in the last year and there is growing hope he will follow his sibling and make it as a top-level professional. More performances like the one at Stevenage and Spurs fans will be calling for the midfield conductor to follow the path of Harry Winks from the youth team to the senior set-up. Maghoma’s quality on the ball and composure is really standing out after he made the step up from the Under-18s to the Under-23s look an easy one. To go to the next level, he will need to keep his feet on the ground and listen to the coaches preparing him for the big time.
