A section of Celtic fans ripped into Callum McGregor for his performance in their team’s goalless draw against St Mirren on Friday night.
The attacking midfielder, 25, played the full 90 minutes of the clash in Paisley after once again getting the nod to start ahead of Scott Sinclair
Many Celtic supporters were hugely disappointed with the display of the club’s academy product, with comments including “embarrassing” and “stinking”.

It looked like Celtic had turned a corner with their Old Firm triumph, but this was an abject performance from them and there is little wonder supporters were frustrated and disappointed. One player getting it in the neck from them was McGregor, who has played the full 90 minutes of all five of the club’s SPL matches this season as well as all eight of their European ties. To say he has the backing of manager Brendan Rodgers is something of an understatement. Certainly, McGregor and his teammates were forced to suffer against a resilient St Mirren after the deserved red card of Olivier Ntcham after 37 minutes forced the visitors to play two-thirds of the match with just 10 men. It gave the home side the advantage they needed, and Celtic did not have the wit or creativity to break them down. McGregor was as guilty of that as anyone else on what was a forgettable night for the ever-present.
