Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa has revealed that he will make no changes for their visit to Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship on Friday evening.

The Whites lost their first match of the Championship season last weekend against Birmingham City, who were previously winless under former Leeds boss Garry Monk.

Bielsa has now revealed in the pre-match press conference on Wednesday that he does not expect to make any changes to his starting team despite that setback.

As quoted by Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Phil Hay on Twitter, when asked about his team selection, Bielsa said: “I won’t change any player.”

This team news comes extremely early, with sides usually announced just an hour before kick-off.

OPINION

This is a bold move from Bielsa as he seemingly announces his team two days early, with the Whites not set to face Wednesday for two more days. However, this could go one of two ways. Either Bielsa is actually totally confident in his team and his starting XI against Birmingham that he does not care if their opponents know the team. That would be a big statement of intent from the Argentine as he responds to his team’s first loss of their league season. Or, it could be that Bielsa is trying to play some mind games with their upcoming opponents, with one or two changes actually in the pipeline. Neither would be particularly surprising, especially when you consider the fact that Bielsa does not actually have too many options on the table to make changes. He is dealing with quite a significant injury list at the moment, and is unlikely to trust his academy players as they look to bounce back from that loss.
