Leeds United midfielder Ouasim Bouy has left the club on a season-long loan to Eredivisie side PEC Zwolle.

As reported on the club’s official website, the Dutch midfielder has joined Zwolle on loan for a third time in his career after failing to break into the Whites first-team following his free transfer from Juventus last summer.

Bouy, 25, spent half of last season on loan at Cultural Leonesa, but only made four appearances for the Spanish club during that time.

OPINION

There were high hopes for Bouy at Elland Road after his free transfer from Serie A giants Juventus last summer, but the Dutch midfielder has spectacularly failed to live up to them. The 25-year-old midfielder has never looked to be anywhere close to the Whites first-team set-up, and his failed loan at Cultural Leonesa proves that he is far from ready to make that step up. A return to Zwolle looks to be a sensible move, and it would not be a surprise if Bouy ends up leaving the club on a permanent basis next summer. The only situation in which that would not happen is if Bouy impresses massively at Zwolle and looks like he is ready to knuckle down at Elland Road. His career so far, which has seen him play for eight teams already, would suggest that is unlikely to happen however. All in all, Leeds will not miss him this season.
