A selection of West Brom supporters have turned to social media to react to the sighting of defender Craig Dawson on the bench for the club’s clash against Middlesbrough on Friday night.

The Baggies confirmed their starting XI via their official Twitter account, revealing that the boss had chosen to make no changes from the side which thrashed Queens Park Rangers 7-1 last weekend.

However it was the return of Craig Dawson to the substitute’s bench which had the supporters raving on Twitter, having missed the opening games of the campaign through injury.

The Hawthorns outfit are looking to go level on points with Boro with a win, Moore’s side currently sitting in seventh and Tony Pulis’ men in second.

Opinion

The Baggies faithful are delighted – and it is for a man who is not even in the starting XI. However, it is clear to see why the West Brom supporters are so pleased to see Dawson back in and around the squad, for he could well play a crucial part in their hunt for a return to the Premier League. There is little doubt he is in a division below his standards and the fact Moore has managed to keep him at the Hawthorns is possibly the best bit of business they could have carried out this summer. He will be really important when he does eventually return to action, and that could turn out to be at the Riverside. His quality will shine through and the only hope for the Baggies is that he stays fully fit for the rest of the campaign. Promotion does not lie solely on his shoulders, but having him as a rock at the back will only improve their chances.
