Tottenham have met with Bordeaux to hold face-to-face talks over the potential transfer of wide forward Malcom, according to France Football.

The French magazine claim on their website that Spurs chiefs have recently met their counterparts from the Ligue 1 club after reigniting their pursuit of the Brazil international.

France Football report that Tottenham’s bid to land Malcom ahead of Inter Milan and Roma is set to “advance” in the coming days.

Good move for Tottenham?

Malcom is quite raw and far from the finished product. But he has demonstrated the kind of qualities that could make him a major hit in the Premier League if the rough edges were smoothed off. Tottenham have already signed one wide forward from Ligue 1 this year with Lucas Moura joining from PSG in January, and they are clearly keen for another who can add pace and goal potential to their front line. Malcom had an impressive 2017-18 campaign, scoring 12 goals and supplying eight assists from his wide right role in 38 matches in all competitions. He was particularly impressive in the first half of the season before his form appeared to be affected by the intense transfer speculation surrounding him until he scored in the final three league matches of the campaign.

Likely to happen?

Given the reliability of France Football, a deal is certainly on the cards. Tottenham are financially powerful but their spending power has been restricted by the new stadium and it is up in the air as to whether they would spend the money needed to land Malcom. This one could go down to the wire.
