A number of Celtic fans have been left raving on social media over the performance of left back Kieran Tierney during the club’s crucial Champions League qualifier away against Ashakert on Tuesday.

The Hoops battled their way to a 3-0 win against their Armenian opposition in what was their first competitive outing of the new campaign, with Tierney playing the full 90 minutes of the fixture.

Odsonne Edouard netted the opening goal on the brink of half time, while James Forrest and Callum McGregor made it a comfortable result with a pair of strikes in the last 10 minutes of the tie.

Many of the Parkhead faithful were impressed on Twitter by what they saw from left sided flyer Tierney, who has established himself as a crucial member of both the Hoops’ squad as well as the Scottish national team.

This is FutbolĀ has rounded up a selection of the supporters’ messages:

Opinion

Tierney has really become one of the most exciting talents that the Hoops have had at their disposal for some time and it is no surprise to see him impressing the fans as the new season kicks off. He was a dangerous threat up and down the left flank while carrying out his defensive duties without a worry, and if that is the sort of performance he is going to put in week after week, then it looks to be another season of success for the Bhoys. However, were injury to hit, it would leave Brendan Rodgers looking a little vulnerable in terms of a replacement, and as such Tierney should do all he can to stay in peak physical condition – even if it means a rest at some point throughout the season.
