Tottenham Hotspur’s former Bundesliga talent, Son Heung-min has proven to be a fantastic success story at White Hart Lane since his arrival from Bayer Leverkusen back in August 2015 and the South Korean international has gone on to rack up well over 250 starting appearances for the club in the time since then.

In that time, the 111 capped international star has racked up a very credible goal tally of just under 150 across all competitions, and he has more than proven that he was the perfect foil and colleague for England talent Harry Kane who has ably demonstrated his own goal touch over the years.

With Kane’s own future now in doubt at the club amidst the serious speculation that did the rounds and hit the rumour mill last summer, in some ways it was only inevitable that the loveably nicknamed ‘Sonny’ would be in the headlines this summer – particularly given the managerial merry-go-round that the club have been on since Mauricio Pochettino departed a few years back.

Following on from the big money signings that have already been made by Saudi Arabian sides, including Karim Benzema, Ruben Neves and Cristiano Ronaldo, Son had recently been linked with a potential £50 million move that could have reportedly netted him a four year contract with Al-Ittihad, with a whopping basic wage of £25.6 million a season.

They have been naturally taken over by the ‘uninvolved’ Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund which now owns Newcastle United and Son now joins former Liverpool and England star, Steven Gerrard, in not taking the riches on offer, by stating ‘money doesn’t matter to me’ as he insisted he had unfinished business in the Premier League and should he ultimately move, it would be to another English side as the 30 year old is definitely yet not done with the English top flight.

For a man who partially interrupted his playing career to complete his countries obliged military service, so he could continue to honour his country on the international stage and simply put, do the right thing – it seems this ‘Sonny’ is not for turning, despite what incredible rewards are offered his way in an effort to tempt him.
