Leeds United are ready to battle for the signature of Brentford winger Florian Jozefsoon after a bid was accepted for the player, according to Phil Hay.

The Yorkshire Evening Post correspondent claims the Championship giants did not table the offer but “do like” the Dutchman, 27, and “could get involved”.

This comes after Brentford manager Dean Smith confirmed today, as quoted by the Bees’ official Twitter account, his club have accepted a bid for Jozefsoon but the player is yet to agree personal terms or a medical.

Good move for Leeds?

Jozefzoon has established himself as one of the best wide men outside the Premier League since joining Brentford from PSV Eindhoven 18 months ago. Capped by Holland at Under-21 level, he made 43 appearances in all competitions last season and chipped in with seven goals and eight assists for the London club. Operating predominantly on the right flank, Jozefzoon would make a far bigger attacking impact than the likes of Hadi Sacko and Stuart Dallas, neither of whom convinced last season, and possible Ezgjan Alioski, too. Leeds are crying out for more attacking flair and the Dutchman could be just the man to provide it.

Likely to happen?

Derby are reportedly in the driving seat for Jozefzoon and could be the unnamed club who have bid for the player, who is rated at the £2.5million mark. That would make it difficult for Leeds to win the race but it is encouraging that Hay has been told their interest is genuine and a counter-offer is on the cards. They would likely need to spend around £3million to seal this deal.
