Chelsea are considering a shock move to bring back goalkeeper Petr Cech this summer, according to reliable journalist Kaveh Solhekol.

The sports journalist, who is a reputable reporter for news broadcaster Sky Sports, has claimed on his personal Twitter account the 36-year-old could join the Blues in this summer’s transfer window, a reunion that could happen if they sell Thibault Courtois to Real Madrid.

The former Czech Republic international joined Arsenal in 2015 for a fee of £14 million, and Chelsea are said to be plotting a potential move to re-sign the 6’4″ (source: Transfermarkt) colossus keeper to fill the number one spot, along with Leicester City’s shot-stopper Kasper Schmeichel.

Good move for Chelsea?

Yes and no. Cech was a fantastic goalkeeper for Chelsea back in his hey-day, a stint that included that fateful night in Munich that saw him hailed as a hero when the club won the Champions League.

His form at the Gunners was arguably questionable last season, as he lost his number one spot to David Ospina in the latter stages of the campaign.

It remains to be seen how well he would perform at a top club like Chelsea again, especially at the age of 36.

Likely to happen?

Possibly. The Blues are also interested in signing Schmeichel, so it is difficult to see Cech joining the club anytime soon.

The Czech keeper is nowhere near the form he used to be in, so seeing him move to Stamford Bridge would be incredibly surprising.

He will always be considered a top-class goalkeeper, but a transfer to his former club looks increasingly unlikely given that they want to compete for the Premier League title next term.
